Inserts
The inserts go into the pocket of the nappy and absorb the wee.
- The standard inserts, for infants, are made of 80% bamboo and 20% polyester. We add a bit of polyester because natural material does not last very long on its own
- The mini inserts, for newborns, are made from similar materials and fit perfectly in the nappy when sized on a newborn
- Our most absorbing inserts, especially designed for toddlers and night-time users, are made of 55% hemp and 45% cotton. These inserts can only be used underneath a bamboo insert or hydrophilic cloth because they do not absorb quickly enough on their own.
A newborn insert is not only great for newborns, but also for older babies as a booster on top of an infant/toddler insert.
You can also use an infant insert for your newborn if you fold the insert partly double to make it fit perfectly in the nappy.
In case extra protection is needed, you can use two inserts in the pocket of the nappy. Hemp fabric holds more than bamboo fabric, but bamboo absorbs faster than hemp.. this is why it works so well to combine inserts of different fabrics. Always place the most absorbing insert on the bottom.
If you have a heavy wetter, a hydrophilic cloth does wonders on top of an insert. It holds barely any liquid, but it does absorb the wee super fast and gives the inserts more time to absorb the wee at its own pace.
Want to keep your hands clean? Store the nappies in a wetbag until you have collected enough for a big load, then press them out of the wetbag into the drum to keep your hands clean. Simply wash the wetbag together with the nappies.
