Like any absorbent fabric (think towels), the fibres need to be softened to help reach their maximum absorbency.
You only need to wash the nappies once before first use, but the inserts need to be soaked and washed at least three times before use to reach their maximum absorbency.
- Soak the nappies in a bucket of warm water for 8 to 12 hours
- Run a main cycle (max 60 degrees) with the inserts and add the first time also the nappies (and possibly some more laundry) and add some laundry detergent
- Drying in between may be done (inserts can be tumble dried at moderate temperature, the nappies cannot be tumble dried), but is not necessary.
- Repeat this process twice more (for the nappies only).
