Cloth nappies are nappies that you don't throw away. They are designed to be reused again and again, and are made of super soft fabric rather than plastic which can be found in single-use nappies. Cloth nappies might be called different things, such as 'reusable nappies' or 'washable nappies' but it all means the same thing.
Free from nasties
Cloth nappies are better for bums. They are made from super absorbent fabric rather than chemical gels which can be found in other nappies. This may irritate your baby's skin less and can reduce nappy rash. It's also been known that when ready, your toddler could be potty training up to 6 months earlier than their single-use wearing friends, which can aid their development and independence.
Cloth nappies are better for your pocket. On average you save €850 when choosing cloth nappies, and even more if you use your nappies with a second child. The bottom line is, even by switching to one cloth nappy a day in place of a single-use nappy, you can make significant financial savings.
Cloth nappies are better for our planet. 250 million single-use nappies are thrown away across the world every day (that's 90 billion a year!). Every nappy can take up to 500 years to decompose in landfill. So using cloth nappies can reduce your household plastic waste and your carbon footprint by 40%.
We recommend using our biodegradable liners which stops poo from sticking to the nappy. You can simply throw away the liner in the bin. Cleaning up a poo-poo has never been easier, right!? If you do not use a liner.. simply knock solids into the toilet and put nappy aside for wash day.
Yes. When washed responsibly and according to our care instructions, cloth nappies are 40% better for the environment.
Environment Agency Lifecycle Assessment for Disposable and Reusable Nappies in UK, 2008
Price remains an important factor for families when it comes to choosing baby products. So, what is the price difference of single-use diapers vs. Happy Naps? We’ve whipped out the calculator to do the math. In short, Happy Naps will save you hundreds of euro's over the course of bubs’ nappy wearing years.
Your baby will go through approx. 2555 nappies in their first year of life alone (wild right?!). If you use single-use diapers until your baby toilet trains (around three years old), you’re looking at spending at least €1056 on the cheapest disposables for those three years.
Happy Naps on the other hand are reusable, so once you buy your stash you’ve got them for bubs’ entire nappy wearing life. A Happy Naps Full Time Bundle cost you €550 but is easily the most cost effective in the long run.
Happy Naps are better for your pocket. You save minimum €506 and even more if you use your nappies with a second child. The bottom line is, even by switching to one cloth nappy a day in place of a single-use diaper, you can make significant financial savings.
Cloth nappies work in exactly the same way as any other nappy. The only difference is that when it comes to change-time, you set your nappy aside for washing day rather than throwing it away. There are some step by step tips we will share with you to help use our products when you start your cloth nappy journey (we're here to help!).
Yes. Our nappies are designed to be easy to use (and make change-time extra cute!) They're made with fabrics that will wash efficiently and dry quickly too. You can also choose to use an additional nappy liner to make every nappy change fuss-free.
The first thing a nappy has to do is perform and cloth nappies do just that. Cloth nappies use multiple layers of super absorbent fabric for ultimate leak protection. You can experience leaks in every type of nappy, you just need to ensure you have the right fit for your baby.
Yes. Stored and washed correctly, reusable nappies are as hygenic as any other nappy. To ensure your nappies are as good as new after every wash, click here to follow our laundry guide.
Not lots. Babies come with extra loads of washing so what's one more wash? Simply pop your nappies into the washing machine and let the machine do the work. Plus, you won't have to empty your bin as often as there'll be no nappies in there.
Our nappies are adjustable, which makes them perfect for every baby. Check out the newborn video for a small fit, or check out the how to find the right fit guide for more sizes. A perfect fit guaranteed!
Happy Naps are made of high-quality PUL: a waterproof and breathable fabric for your baby to play outside without getting a wet and dirty bum.
The inside of the nappy is made of an ultra soft fleece. This is a non-absorbent fabric, so the pee can go through this layer and get absorbed by the inserts. The fleece leaves your baby's bum feeling soft and dry.
Our inserts are meant to go into the pockey nappy. We have three different inserts. Our newborn insert is made of 75% bamboo en 25% microfiber. The standard insert is made of 100% bamboo and the heavy insert is made of 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton. Our trial package includes all three of them for you to check out which one suits your baby best.
We are a Dutch company, based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Our products are produced in Asia and shipped to The Netherlands per train to keep our impact on the environment at a minimum.
In both Asia and Europe bad manufacturers and bad working conditions occur, but also both continents offer great manufacturers with great working conditions. We are lucky to have found a reliable manufacturer in Asia that also produces very high quality products. We value our planet and single-use plastics are a no-go in our entire production process.
There is always room for improvement and we will definitely change to a manufacturer in Europe in the future to decrease our impact on the environment even further. So far, we have not found a manufacturer in Europe that can offer the quality we like to present to you. As the world is developing, we will definitely keep you updated about our progress.

We have designed an adjustable one-size cloth nappy so you don’t need to worry about what size to choose. Our nappies are made to fit from tiny newborn right through to energetic toddler, approx 3.5 to 16kg.
A nappy is not complete without an insert. Inserts are used to absorb a wee well. You simply stuff the insert into the pocket nappy and change it when needed. If the nappy is still dry, you only have to change the insert. So easy! Another reason why we love this nappy set up is because they won’t get smelly over time, like some other reusables can do.
Having a selection of inserts and liners will help you get the most from your nappy stash. We also recommend getting a few eco-friendly accessories to help you use cloth nappies at home and on the go including;
Wet bags: a waterproof zippable bag that makes transporting cloth nappies simple and smell-free.
Travel change mats: these create a soft and hygienic landing spot for cloth nappy changes anywhere.
Bamboo cloth wipes: super soft and the perfect compliment to cloth nappies for any eco-conscious parent.
We love everything eco, but we do not recommend to use your Do It Yourself laundry detergent for your Happy Naps as it is possibly not strong enough to clean the nappies well.
We recommend using just a little bit of blue Biotex for the short cycle.
For the long cycle we recommend laundry powder for coloured clothing only; without bleach, fabric softener or stain removals and with less than 5% soap.
Consider one of the following brands: Biotop, Klok or Ulrich Naturlich. Please do not use Formil as this product seems to be the reason behind many damaged nappies.
Also, to prevent ammonia build-up, it is best to put the laundry powder straight into the drum instead of using the detergent drawers.
Using cloth nappies
Preparation is key. Before you get those super cute nappies onto your baby's bottom you will need to prewash your products at least once. This will make them more absorbent and super soft before you start to use them. The more you wash your nappies, the more absorbent they will get. See our laundry guide for instructions on how to wash your nappies.
*Take care that you have purchased the correct product as washed nappies cannot be exchanged or refunded.
Remember, nappies should be changed every 3 hours, or when a poo has happened just like any nappy. See here our changing guide.
While it may feel overwhelming at first, cleaning cloth nappies is easy— no soaking or scrubbing required.
By following these instructions, you will help preserve the quality and extend the life of your Happy Naps
Step 1: Take the liner out of the diaper and throw away in rubbish. Put nappy and insert in a nappy pail or bucket with airflow.
Step 2: Pre-wash the nappies and inserts on a cold, short cycle with half a scoop laundry-powder.
Step 3: Wash the nappies and inserts on a long cycle and add a full scoop laundry-powder into the drum (optional to add more cloths).
Step 4: Air dry the nappies and inserts (or tumble dry the nappies on low temperature and inserts on medium temperature).
If you use your nappies during the night, you may notice they can get smellier than daytime nappies. For that reason, we recommend doing your washing first thing in the morning, together with the nappies from the day before. If you are not ready for a big load, you can hand rinse the used night nappy in warm water with detergent and run a spin cycle in the washing machine before adding it to the nappy pail. Make sure not to keep your nappies in here for longer than two days to prevent ammonia build-up.
The sun is the cheapest and most effective way to remove stains. The UV rays break down molecular structure, causing stains to disappear and whites to look brighter. You will find stains fade even on overcast days. Just make sure not to bake your nappies in the sun; only keep wet nappies in direct sunlight. How amazing is Mother Nature!
As with disposables, leaking nappies occur when they are either full or fitted incorrectly.
If your nappies and inserts are still like new, know that they don’t reach their maximal absorption capacity until you’ve done ten washes. Luckily they reach 80% after the third time washing, so you can start using them a bit quicker. If you soak the nappies and inserts for 24h in a bucket with water and wash them after, they will reach their absorption capacity in no time!
Is this not the reason for your leaks? Read on how to find out how to solve the issue.
Check the inserts; are they saturated or just slightly damp?
Inserts are saturated Change the nappy more frequently Are you changing nappies every 3 hours? If not, this could be the cause of your leaks. Cloth nappies use physical absorption to soak up liquid, unlike disposables that use a chemical gelling agent, so cloth nappies don’t hold quite as much liquid and need to be changed a bit more often.
Add extra absorption To minimise leaks and keep your baby dryer for longer, simply add extra absorption. If you’re still using a mini insert, it’s time to upgrade to our standard inserts. If you’re already using these, it will help to upgrade to our heavy wetter insert. This one is especially great if your baby is a heavy wetter and can also be used underneath a bamboo insert as a booster for during the night.
Inserts are damp or dry Adjust the fit Watch our step by step ‘how to fit’ video for instructions. With a little bit of practice and some simply adjustments, you can resolve leaks with ease.
Common fit errors Here are three of the most common fitting errors that could be causing your nappy leaks. Check that you can say yes to the below to ensure your leaks aren’t caused by one of these mistakes: - Are the inserts fitted flat inside the nappy with no folded edges? - Are the nappy leg elastics tucked into your baby’ undie lines? - Is the nappy crotch sitting close to baby’ skin with no visible gaps or sagging?
If you are changing your nappy regularly, use the right absorption insert and have checked your fit, but still find nappies leaking, please get in touch. We are happy to check your fit and offer you personalised advice.
For sure you can. For heavier wetters, we recommend using our night-time inserts. They are made of 45% organic cotton and 55% hemp to maximise absorbency load and speed. You can also use these as a booster underneath a bamboo insert for extra support during the night. Hemp has the most durable quality, you really won’t regret buying these!
Give the nappies a second life and give them to a mommy (to be). Is nobody interested in your environment? Donate the nappies to a non-profit organisation in your area.
